Have the vehicle checked as soon as possible, and avoid driving it if you can. Grinding often means the friction material is worn away and metal is contacting the rotor, which can lengthen stopping distance and turn a pad job into a pad-and-rotor job. Only an inspection can tell you exactly what is going on with your brakes.
No. If the rotors measure above the manufacturer's minimum thickness and run true, they can stay. We measure, then tell you.

That's usually rotor thickness variation on the front axle. It can also be a suspension or wheel balance issue, which is why we check both.
