New Tires in North Charleston, SC

Walk-Ins WelcomeSame-Day Service AvailableHonest Inspections

Between summer heat, standing water on Rivers Avenue after a Charleston downpour, and daily highway miles on I-26, tires here work harder than the mileage rating suggests. Champion Tires & Brakes sources new tires for cars, trucks and SUVs and installs them the same day in most cases — no appointment, no waiting list.

We'll walk you through the real trade-offs before you spend money: how many miles the tread warranty is worth for your commute, whether a quieter touring tire is worth the difference over an economy tire, and whether you should replace two or all four. If you only need two, we mount the new pair on the rear for wet-weather stability.

Pricing

Quoted by size and brand

New tire pricing depends entirely on size and brand, so we quote per vehicle rather than posting a number that would not apply to you. Call with your size and we'll give you options at a few price points.

What affects your final cost

  • Tire size, speed rating and load range
  • Brand and tread warranty level
  • Number of tires being replaced
  • TPMS sensor replacement if a sensor has failed
  • Whether you add an alignment to protect the new set

Starting prices are estimates. Final pricing depends on your vehicle, the parts it needs, and what we find during inspection.

Signs you need new tires

  • Tread is at or below 4/32" — the penny test shows the top of Lincoln's head
  • Wear bars are flush with the tread blocks
  • Hydroplaning or long stopping distances in the rain
  • Cracking in the sidewall or between tread blocks from age
  • Tires are more than six years old regardless of tread
  • Uneven wear across one edge, often paired with an alignment problem

What we check with every tire purchase

  • Tread depth on all four corners and the spare if it's accessible
  • Wear pattern, which tells us whether alignment or suspension is the underlying cause
  • Wheel condition, bead seat corrosion and valve stem/TPMS health
  • Suspension play that would chew up a brand-new set
  • Tire pressure monitoring system operation after installation

What's included with installation

  • Mounting and computer road-force-conscious balancing
  • New valve stems or TPMS service kits where needed
  • Torque to manufacturer specification
  • Tire pressure set to the door placard, not the sidewall maximum
  • Old tire disposal
  • Alignment check recommendation so the new set wears evenly

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to replace all four tires?

Not always. Front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive vehicles can run a matched pair on one axle. All-wheel-drive vehicles are much more sensitive to tread depth differences, and we'll tell you honestly if replacing all four is the safer call for your drivetrain.

Do I need an alignment with new tires?

If your old tires wore unevenly, pulled, or you have hit a serious pothole, yes. An alignment is far cheaper than replacing a set of tires that scrubbed out in 12,000 miles. See our wheel alignment page for details.

How long does new tire installation take?

A typical four-tire installation takes about an hour once your vehicle is on the lift. We're first-come, first-served, so mornings are usually the fastest.

Can I bring tires I bought online?

Yes, we mount and balance customer-supplied tires. Call for current installation pricing.

I have been coming here for two years and this is by far the most accommodating, honest, and experienced workers (Paul, Juan, and Mary) that I have encountered. They cover a wide array of issues from new tires to engine work. I will not go anywhere else. Thank you guys for helping me with my car.

I was having some issues with my car pulling to one direction and was unsure of what was wrong. I came in and Mary was so helpful and informative! She got me set up with an alignment and the issue was fixed!! I didn't have to wait long, and the price was great! I will definitely be sending my friends and family here to get work done!
