We don't recommend it. A new strut on one side and a worn one on the other creates uneven damping that shows up hardest during emergency braking or swerving.
New struts stop the cupping from getting worse, but tires that are already scalloped will stay noisy. Often the tire needs replacing along with the strut.
Yes. On most vehicles the strut is part of the steering geometry, so an alignment should follow replacement.
